I couldn’t resist adding a little cultural flair with Googoosh’s legendary song "Kavir" (Desert). When Iranians exclaim "Khodaya!" it’s often in frustration, much like students learning how many kh sounds there are in Persian! 😅 Music makes everything better, don’t you think?
The song "Kavir" is a masterpiece with lyrics by Ardalan Sarfaraz, music by Hasan Shamaizadeh, and arrangement by Varoujan. The line I used, "Khodayā, khodayā, kavir-am, kavir-am," translates to:
"Oh God, Oh God, I'm a desert, I'm a desert."
It evokes a feeling of emotional emptiness and longing—perfect for the theme of kh in Persian! LOL

In my experience, I’ve seen many (especially second- and third-generation) students obsess over their accent, thinking it’s “khāreji (foreign)” or not “Iranian” enough (!). Cut it out jānam!
